The Mobile World Congress 2020, one of the largest mobile communications industry shows annually held in Barcelona, has been canceled as a result of the health and safety concerns surrounding the coronavirus and the number of big named exhibitors who have declared that they will be missing the show for this same reason.

GSMA, who is behind the show, declared the cancellation on February 12. The show was scheduled from February 24 to 27. GSMA has a long-term deal with Barcelona to host the event until 2023. The host city had been accommodating MWC since 2006. Last year’s attendance was at 109,500.

Manufacturers who would normally be taking this opportunity to launch their new phones and other devices on the show will now have to take on alternative strategies to announce their products.
